We have a childcare crisis in South Carolina. The prices are too high, the waiting lists are too long, and the workers don’t get paid enough.
It’s important that parents who want to work, have the ability to do so. This would help their own quality of life, while improving our state’s workforce and enhancing our economic development.
I’m committed to finding ways to solve this crisis. Whether it’s providing incentives for childcare providers to set up shop in South Carolina, a guaranteed living wage for workers, some form of subsidy (such as the TriShare program proposed in Michigan), or a combination of tactics, we must help our struggling parents.
